About Uma
My path into counselling began with a deep curiosity about people and the stories that shape who we become. After completing my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology at York University, I worked in a clinical setting where I supported individuals navigating fear, uncertainty, and significant life transitions. Being alongside people during these vulnerable moments deepened my appreciation for emotional care and the ways resilience is built in the face of challenge.
These experiences ultimately led me to pursue my Master of Counselling at City University of Canada, where I continue to grow as a therapist and deepen my understanding of human connection, healing, and relational work.
I aim to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, respectful, and affirming. One where clients can bring their whole selves, including their identities, cultures, and lived experiences. I believe these experiences are not separate from healing, but deeply intertwined with it.
